We went over double and single replacement reactions today and solubility.

During the second half of the period you worked with a partner on using observations to predict reactions. You also consulted a table of diagnostic tests and flame tests and solution colours.
Homework : p 335 #18, 19 p 339 #26
I had you try some questions(5 of them) from the smart board,The word doc of this is I then did some demos of reactions for you. Please finish writing the equations for these.
We then looked at two quick demos. You put up solutions to the five single and double replacement reactions from the smart board. You were then give time to work on part four of the mol contract. Most students were able to get partway through the first section of the assignment. Please bring a well water sample so we can test for Fe 3+ in your well water. Chem 111- Today we went over the rules for solubility.(all rules). You worked on molecular formula and empirical formula today...shet 6 and sheet 8 2,3,4

Chem 112- Today you worked with percent composition, and molecular solubility. You were given some time to start your major reaction assignment. We also checked the solutions to last night's problems.

Chem 112-**We checked over your answers to yesterday's problems on percent composition,Since there were several students missing one or more days, we reviewed..combustion, percent composition, and then worked on an assignment with predicting reactions and recording observations and diagnostic tests for reactants and products. .

In class you were given three questions to try on this topic. As we had many students away I waited to go over ICE questions tomorrow, as well as to do the homework check for last week's work. You received a copy of the topic review sheet for uesday's test. Ch 19.1 to 19.3 test Do not forget to work on the assignment that is due on friday. The quiz on the five step process is now on .
The following is delayed until tomorrow. Today we will review strong versus weak acids and go over the last topic for this unit; ICE problems. Homework p 610 #22 and #23 Do not forget about the assignment that is due on friday. We will do some group work with the five step process.(we went over 3 five step questons in class from the homework) Five step quiz tomorrow
We went over 2 five step questions, ICE problems and some group practise with 5 step questions. During the last 15 minutes we worked with group review for friday's test. Quiz tomorrow on 5 step questions

Today we reviewed several topics that were done before labs...Ka,Kb,indicator tables and what the difference between strong and weak acids was. We did some calculations involving strong acids and bases. l will review work with Arrehenius and his ideas on acids and bases as involving a reaction with water to produce conjugate acids and bases..then we will go over calcuations involving strong acids and bases.Please do #,10,11,5,6,7 from the long worksheet(this may not be correct as I do not have this page at home)
Be sure to complete the table from the top right side of the handout with practise sheets 1 to 4 on it for thursday. This means sheet 3 should be completed in your notebook . Be careful with bases that have more than one hydroxide.
